Dear Wolverine Families,
A lot of great learning happened in February!
Many junior and intermediate students wrote and delivered speeches, some going on to represent Harriett Todd at the Legion Competition! All students read, ‘What Love Looks Like’ by Laura Obuobi, and participated in rich discussions about love. Students have created works of art and statements about what love looks like to them. If you chose to engage in this conversation at home too, we’d love to have a heart sent back with one of the ways your family recognizes love. Hearts from home will be shared as part of an Equity Arts Night installment.
This month we also celebrated Black History Month, Lunar New Year, Valentines Day, Family Day, and Pink Shirt Day. As part of our Random Acts of Kindness, all students created a slogan or drawing highlighting kindness, students in our Learning Centre pressed all 500+ works of art into buttons, and every student received a special homemade button on Feb 25th.
In extracurricular activities, the intermediate boys are headed to their Area Basketball tournament this Tuesday, and the intermediate girls are playing in their Area Volleyball tournament this Wednesday. The junior boys’ and girls’ basketball seasons are just getting started with tryouts starting soon. Several students participated in our school Chess Tournament, with nearly 20 advancing to the Area Tournament happening next week.
In a different avenue, we are in need of a new dishwasher for our Breakfast Club. If anyone has any good leads or connections to get a new one at a reasonable price, please email us at [email protected]. Our three-sink system is working to keep us open in the interim, but it is a lot of extra work for our volunteers who run the breakfast program.

Don’t Be Late! School starts at 9:15am. Students arriving to school after the 9:15am bell will be marked LATE. Late students must sign in at the front office. Thank you for your punctuality in minimizing classroom interruptions and maximizing learning.
Stay all day! Dismissal is at 3:35pm. In the event your child needs to be picked up early (appointment, event) email [email protected] with your child's name, teachers name, and the time of pickup before NOON; Office staff will ensure the teacher is informed and your child signed out.
Please avoid calling the office last minute as interruptions in the classroom negatively impact the learning of our students. Calls after 3pm will not be accepted. There are no early pick-ups between 3:00-3:35. **There are a few families with modified days who pick up at 3:15 pm. This is preplanned and part of specialized programming. Pick Up - When coming to the school (at the end of the day) to pick your child/children up, please wait for them outside of the school at their respective gates. If you are coming to the school during the day, please ring the bell at the front entrance.
To report a student absence or if your child will be late, please call the SCDSB Attendance Line at 1-888-885-8065 and follow the prompts, or email [email protected]
